| Symbol | A thing that represents or stands for something else, especially a material object representing something abstract |
| Allusion | An expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly; an indirect or passing reference. |
| Anthropomorphism | The attribution of human characteristics or behavior to a god, animal, or object |
| Character | a person, animal, being, creature, or thing in a story. |
| Protagonist | The principal character in a literary work (such as a drama or story). |
| Antagonist | One that contends with or opposes another. |
| Setting | The time and place of the action of a literary, dramatic, or cinematic work |
| Fable | A narration intended to enforce a useful truth especially, one in which animals speak and act like human beings |
| Fairy Tale | A story, usually for children, involving fantastic forces and beings; a story in which improbable events lead to a happy ending |
| Myth | A traditional story of events that serves to unfold part of the world view of a people or explain a practice, belief, or natural phenomenon |
| Conflict | Antagonistic state or action (as of divergent ideas, interests, or persons); the opposition of persons or forces that gives rise to the dramatic action in a drama or fiction |
