| argument | facts or reasoning offered to support a position as being true |
| prosecutor | a person, especially a public official, who institutes legal proceedings against someone |
| ethos | a rhetorical appeal that focuses on the character or qualifications of the speaker. |
| logos | a rhetorical appeal to the reader's or listener's senses or emotions through connotative language and imagery. |
| pathos | a rhetorical appeal to the reader's or listener's senses or emotions through connotative language and imagery. |
| debate | a discussion involving opposing points of view; v. to present the sides of an argument by discussing opposing points. |
| forfeiture | The loss or giving up something as a penalty for wrong doing. |
| cognate | related to or coming from the same source. |
| sound | exhibiting or based on thorough knowledge and experience. |
| controversy | a public debate or dispute concerning a matter of opinion |
| debatable | not certain because people can have a different ideas and opinions about the thing being discussed, arguable, questionable |
| non-debatable | factual and not open to question or refutation |
| research | to locate information from a variety of sources; the information found from investigating a variety of sources |
| refute | to prove to be false |
| accuracy | How close a measurement to the true value |
| validity | the ability of a test to measure what it is intended to measure |
| authority | a reliable respected source - someone with knowledge |
| currency | a system of money in general, used in a particular country |
| concurrently | existing o happening at the same time |
| deterioration | the process of becoming worse |
| conclusive | putting a end to doubt; convincing |

| prohibition | the action of forbidding something, especially by law. |
