Bureaucracy The non-elected officials who carry out tasks of government
Caravan A large group of travelers,usually on a trade expedition
Censor To examine media in order or edit or remove objectionable content
Confucianism A Chinese philosophy which focuses on personal duty and morals, based on the teachings of Confucius
Dynasty A line of rulers from the same family
Ethics Moral principles ( ideas of right and wrong ) that influence a person's decisions and actions
Export To sell goods and services out of of a country through trade
Filial Piety The virtue of showing proper respect, obedience, and care for one's parents/guardians,elders,and ancestors
Import To buy goods or services into a country through trade
Legalism A Chinese philosophy which emphasizes maintaining order of control, using harsh laws and force if necessary
Loess A fine wind-blown sediment that can develop into very fertile soil
Mandate of Heaven The idea that an effective Chinese leader's right to rule came from the gods
Oracle A priest or priestess who provides predictions or advice from the gods
Philosophy The study of fundamental questions about the nature of life,truth, and existence
Taoism/Daoism A Chinese philosophy that emphasizes oneness with nature and acceptance of the way of the world
