Measurement for STEM Project

TermDefinition
mass A measure of how much matter is in an object
weight A measure of the force of gravity acting on an object
International System of Units (SI) A modern system of units used by scientists to measure the the properties of matter
Metric System A system of measurement based on the number 10
mean The numerical average of a set of data
median The middle number in a set of data
mode The number that appears most often in a list of numbers
range The difference between the greatest value and the least value in a set of data
graph A picture of information from a data table; shows the relationship between variables
meter The basic unit of measurement for length/distance in the metric system
liter The basic unit of measurement for liquid volume in the metric system
gram The basic unit of measurement for mass in the metric system
triple beam balance Used to measure mass, this is a single pan balance with three beams calibrated in grams
anomalous data Data that does not fit with the rest of the data set
