Executive Functions
A list with definitions of the Executive Functions of the brain
| Term | Definition |

| Self-Advocacy | Asking for help or asking for things that will make it easier for you to do your tasks. |
| Planning | Developing a strategy in order to complete a task or goal. |
| SMART goal | A SMART goal is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. |
| Organization | Setting up a system to keep your materials neat and orderly. |
| Time Management | Having an accurate understanding of time in order to work efficiently. |
| Prioritizing assignments | Figuring out which assignment is due first. Figuring out which assignment will earn you the most points. Figuring out which assignment will take you the most amount of time. |
| Task Initiation | The ability to begin a task right away. |
| Working Memory | The skill that helps hold information in your mind in the short-term while working with it. |
| Metacognition | Self-monitoring and self-evaluating your own work. |
| Self-control | Stopping to think before you act. Making the "right" choice, instead of acting on impulses. Managing emotions in order to complete a task well. |
| Attention | Being able to focus on a task or person for a period of time. |
| Flexibility | The ability to adjust to new situations and effectively cope with change. |
| Perseverance | Working through to complete a goal, even when challenges come up along the way. |
