Unit 3 - Physical Scince

Wave A disturbance that tranfers energy from one place to another
Medium The material through which a wave travels
Longitudinal Wave Particles move back and forth in the same direction that the waves travels ot parrallel to the wave
Transverse Wave Particles move perpendiculary to the direction the wave travels
Mechanical Wave Can travel through more than one medium
Electro magnetic Wave A disturbence in electric and magnetic feilds
Amplitude How far the particles in a medium move
Wave Length The distance from one point of the wave to an identical point on the next wave
Wave Period The time required for one cycle
Frequency Tells how many cycles occur in an amount of time
Hertz One hertz is equal to one cycle per scond
Wave Speed The speed of which the wave travels
