Cluster C - words (2) anxious, fearful
Cluster C - disorders avoidant, dependent and obsessive-compulsive
Personality Disorder overly rigid and maladaptive patterns of behavior and ways of relating to others that reflect extreme variations on underlying personality traits
Schizoid (Cluster A) loves their alone time; very severity; doesn't enjoy close relationships; lacks close friends of (bffs); appears indiff to praise / criticism; takes leisure's in few activities; almost always choose activities alone; emotionally cold and/or detached
Paranoid (Cluster A) introvert; psychotic thinking; suspects that others are exploiting, harming or deceiving them; finds hidden demeaning; perceives attacks on character; persistently bears grudges; reluctant to confide in others; doubts w/ friends' loyalty
Schizotypal (Cluster A) unusual perceptual experiences (6th sense); ideas of reference (thinking their is a message); odd beliefs / magical thinking; odd thinking; inappropriate or constricted affect; excessive social anxiety; lack of close friends(people don't want to interact)
Borderline (Cluster B) - features identity disturbance; chronic feeling or emptiness; patterns of unstable and intense relationships by splitting; inappropriate, intense, difficult to control anger; affective instability & mood; frantic efforts to avoid abandonment; suicidality
Borderline - defense mechanisms + etiology splitting (thinking things all good or all bad); omnipotence (all the power) and devaluation (rejecting them); denial; projection (putting ur own feelings on someone else) projective identification; heredity + history of abuse
Antisocial (Cluster B) - features reckless + impulsive behavior (consistent irresponsibility, reckless disregard for safety, irritability/aggressiveness, impulsivity, failure to conform to social norms); psychopathy (rare) (superficial charm + grandiosity)
Antisocial - etiology heredity; chaotic home life; history of ODD/CD; head injury
Narcissistic (Cluster B) - features grandiose sense of self-importance; fantasies of ultimate power/success; believes they are special or unique; sense of entitlement; arrogance toward others; envy; interpersonally exploitative; lack of empathy
Narcissistic - etiology Kohut theory (develop. of relationships w/ parents for children, effective parenting); social learning
Histrionic (Cluster B) - features discomfort not being center of attention; inappropriate sexual/provocative behavior; shallow expressions of emotion; physical appearance; vague (uncertain) and impressionistic language (not meaning what they're saying); theatricality; easily peer pressure
Dependent (Cluster C) preoccupied w/ fear of being left alone; feels helpless when alone; needs others to assume responsibility; difficulty making everyday decisions; difficulty initiating projects on own; urgently seeks relationships as source of care/support; excessive lengh
Avoidant (Cluster C) views self as inferior to others; restraint in intimate relationships; avoid professional interpersonal contact; reluctant to engage in new activities; avoids new interpersonal situations; unwilling to get involved w/ people unless certain of being liked
Obsessive-Compulsive preoccupied w/ details, rules, lists, order, organization + schedules; perfectionism that interferes w/ tack completion; morally over conscientious/inflexible; excessively devoted to work; reluctance to delegate; miserly spending style
the most impairing/severe PD? schizotypal
the least impairing/severe PD? obsessive-compulsive
