| Term | Definition |

| Wave | A wave is any disturbance that transfers energy through matter or space. |
| Medium | The matter through which a Wave Travel is called a MEDIUM. |
| Frequency | The number of waves that pass by a point each second |
| Amplitude | Wave height. |
| Wavelength | Distance between 2 crests or troughs. |
| Wave Speed | Speed at which waves travel through a medium. |
| Longitudinal Wave | waves in which the particles vibrate back and forth compressional pulses. |
| Mechanical Wave | Need a medium to travel through. |
| Transverse Wave | waves in which the particle vibrates in an up and down motion. |
| Electromagnetic Wave | do NOT need a medium to travel though. |
