Wave A wave is any disturbance that transfers energy through matter or space.
Medium the matter through which a wave can travel (can be solid, liquid, or gas)
Frequency the number of waves that pass by a point each second
Amplitude larger amplitude = more energy,wave height
Wavelength distance between 2 crests or troughs
Wave Speed speed at which waves travel through a medium
Longitudinal Wave waves in which the particles vibrate back and forth in compressional pulses.
Mechanical Wave can be either Transverse or Longitudinal and also needs a medium to travel tthrough
Transverse Wave waves in which the particles vibrate in an up and down motion.
Electromagnetic Wave Waves are ALWAYS transverse waves.

rarefaction where particles are spread apart in a longitudinal wave
compression where particles are bunched together in a longitudinal wave
