| Module 12 | Make Deposits in other people's emotional bank accounts (EBAs) |
| EBA | Emotional Bank Account |
| Main Point of Module 12 | I can make deposits of kindness and helpfulness into other people's EBAs. when I do this, it's easier to make new friends and build strong relationships. |
| Find out what a Deposit is for the other person. | what you think is a deposit for the other person may in fact be a withdrawal in their mind. (Example, potlucks when nobody knows how to cook) |
| Do Small Acts of Kindness | a way to make a deposit into someone's EBA is to be kind and polite to them. being rude is a withdrawal. |
| Keep Promises | it's very important to be true to your word. nothing bankrupts an EBA faster than breaking a promise. |
| Keep Confidences | when someone shares something with you in confidence, keep it that way. |
| Be loyal to the absent | avoid gossiping or backbiting. if you bad-mouth someone, the people listening could think you do the same to them. |
| set clear expectations. | don't leave thing fuzzy. make it known what you expect from someone else in any relationship. |
| Apologize | If you're in the wrong or make a mistake, admit it now. making excuses instead of making thing up is an even bigger withdrawal. |
| Forgive | Learn to forget and forgive so that you don't keep hurting yourself the way you were hurt. |
