PHILOSPHY TERMS
Basic logic terms
| Term | Definition |

| Argument | A statement, or group of statements, that claim to provide support for a conclusion |
| Premise | The statement(s) in an argument that give the evidence |
| Conclusion | The statement the premises claim to support |
| Statement | Complete thought believed to be true/false |
| Good argument | Argument where the statements provide sufficient evidence to support the conclusion |
| Deductive argument | An argument where the arguer claims the conclusion IMPOSSIBLE to be false if the premises are true |
| Inductive argument | The arguer claims it is MERELY IMPROBABLE for the conclusion to be false if the premises are true |
| Sampling argument | A small group is used to draw conclusions on the general public's beliefs |
| analogical argument | A special inductive argument where the similarity of 2+ things are used to infer a conclusion --> uses analogies, syllogism |
