Nervous/ Endocrine system

Central nervous system Refers to brain/spinal cord
Peripheral Nervous system Consists of sensory and motor neurons
Sensory Afferent nerve fibers, carry info from sense organs to CNS
Motor Efferent, carry directives from CNS to rest of body
Somatic Intentional movement of skeletal muscles
Parasympathetic calming, Rest and digest ( Decelerates heartbeat, Lowers blood pressure, Stimulates digestion)
Sympathetic Arousing, Flight/Flight/ Freeze (accelerating heart rate, raise blood pressure, slow digestion)
Endocrine system "slow" chemical communication (HOrmones move through the bloodstream)
Pituitary gland Master gland (Human growth hormone)
Adrenal gland release epinephrine and norepinephrine energize the body
Pancreas Releases insulin, regulates blood sugar
Thyroid Regulates metabolism
Parathyroid Regulates calcium
Ovaries and testes Sex hormones
