| Latitude | The east-west parallel lines in a grid. Measure distance north and south of the equator |
| Longitude | The north - south meridian lines in a grid. Measure east and west of the prim meridian. |
| Equator | An imaginary line encircling the Earth equally |
| prime Meridian | Imaginary line that passes through the north and south poles. It shows 0 degrees longitude. |
| continents | 7 great land masses of the world. Asia, Antartica, Afrfica, Europe, Australia, North America and South America. |
| cartography | the science of creating maps |
| geography | the study of Earth's physical and cultural features |
| landform | the natural features of the Earth's surface |
| environment | all the living and the nonliving things that affect life in an area |
| region | an area with one or more features that make it different from surrounding areas |
| resources | the materials found on Earth that people need and value |
| diffusion | the spread of people, ideas, things and diseases from place to place |
| compass rose | a circle showing directions on a map |
