Cell Parts-Abilities

This doesnt have all the cell parts so dont rely on this_ but enjoy anyways!

Cell PartWhat does this do?
Cell Wall: The cell wall is a source of shape and protection for its "downstairs neighbor", the cell membrane; & is the wall that keeps it stable. The cell wall is much thicker & is only found in plant cells, while the cell membrane is in both plant and animal cells
Cell Membrane: The cell membrane is a source of stability & protection for a plant or animal cell. Unlike the cell wall, it is much thinner and has tiny pores to control what goes in and out of the cell.
Nucleus: The nucleus is a round, wiffleball-like part of a cell that is known as the cell's "brain". It contains all the specific information that the cell needs to do and all of its DNA. Basically, it bosses all the other cell parts around so it can reproduce.
Cytoplasm: The cytoplasm is known as the "gel" of the cell and it holds all of the parts inside the cell. It is known as a gel since, like humans, it is mostly made of water.
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER): The endoplasmic reticulum (ER for short) is a very complex and twisty system of "roads" that transports things around the cell, like proteins. I wonder why they gave something such a long name with such a simple job....
Golgi Apparatus: The golgi apparatus is like a "gift wrapping shop" for cells. it takes proteins and "packages" them to be ready for shipping. This was named after an Italian scientist named Camillo Golgi, who in 1898, discovered this part.
Ribosomes: The ribosomes are like a factory for what else: PROTEINS!
Is this all the cell parts? NO! there are MANY other cell parts that I haven't covered yet, but I don't really have time to make 'em. I hope some other stack has the parts I'm missing. Hope you enjoyed it! -Caya_ALT (P.S. if this isnt at the end- KEEP GOING!!!!)

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
