Pharmacology

TermDefinition
Contraindication specific situation in which a drug, procedure, or surgery should not be used because it may be harmful to the person.
indication valid reason in which a drug should be used
therapeutic range range of drug dosages which can treat disease effectively without having toxic effects
polypharmacy the simultaneous use of multiple drugs by a single patient, for one or more conditions.
pharmacology the study of how a drug affects a biological system and how the body responds to the drug
precaution a measure taken in advance to prevent something dangerous, unpleasant, or inconvenient from happening.
toxicity the state of being poisonous
trade name name given by the company that makes the drug and is usually easy to say for sales
generic name Named after the medicine's active ingredient that makes it work
