| paraphrase | to express something in new words |

| compare | to note the similarities and/or dissimilarities between things |
| contrast | to note the dissimilarities between things |
| describe | to note details about something |
| trace | to find or discover something through investigation |
| explain | to make something clear by using description, relevant facts, or ideas |
| formulate | to create in a careful, systematic way; to describe in a systematic way |
| support | to use information and reasoning to develop and defend a position or statement |
| summarize | to briefly share the main points of something |
| synthesize | to combine information and/or ideas from multiple sources in order to make an overall point |
| evaluate | to form or express an opinion on something |
| predict | to indicate what you believe will happen in the future, usually based on information and/or experience |
