Empircism view that (a) knowledge comes from experience via the senses and (b) science flourishes through observation & experiment
Structuralism an early school of psychology that used introspection to explore the elemental structure of the human mind
Functionalsim a school of psychology that focused on how mental and behavioral processes function how they enable the organism to adapt, survive, and flourish.

Experiment Psychology a research method in which an investigator manipulates one or more factors (independent variables) to observe the effect on some behavior or mental process (the dependent variables)
Behaviorism Behaviorism is a theory of learning based on the idea that all behaviors are acquired through conditioning, and conditioning occurs through interaction with the environment
Humanistic Psychology a perspective that emphasizes looking at the whole individual and stresses concepts such as free will, self-efficacy, and self-actualization
cognitive neuroscience the study of how the brain enables the mind
natural selection The way that any genetically determined behaviour that enhances the ability to survive and reproduce will continue in future generations.
