Term | Definition |

Geography | The study of people, places, and the environment |
Culture | The beliefs, customs, laws, arts, and ways of living that a group of people share |
Cartographer | A person who makes maps |
Relative Location | The location of one place in relation to another |
Absolute location | The exact spot on Earth where a place is found |
Renewable Resource | A resource that can be used and replaced over a relatively short time period |
Non-renewable Resource | A resource that cannot be replaced or can only be replaced over millions of years |
Migrate | To move from one area, in order to settle in another |
Climate | The typical weather in a region over a period of time |
Continent | A large landmass above water |
Subcontinent | A large landmass that is part of a continent but has its own geographic identity |
Hydroelectricity | Electrical power generated by water |
Fertile | Rich in resources and nutrients |
Irrigation | The process of bringing water to dry land |
Archipelago | A group of islands |
Fjord | A long, narrow, deep inlet of the sea located between steep cliffs |
Savanna | A flat grassland in a tropical or subtropical region with scattered trees and shrubs |
Peninsula | A body of land surrounded by water on three sides |
Tributary | A stream or river that flows into a larger river |
