Function | To describe the purpose or role of something or someone |
Negation | The act or process of denying |
Coherence | A logical connection. |
Archetype | a character, symbol, story pattern, or other element that is common to human experience across culture. |
Pacing | The amount of time a writer gives to describing each event. |
Mood | The overall emotional quality of a work, which is created by the author's language and tone. |
Point of view | The perspective from which a story is told. |
Epic | A long narrative poem about the deeds of heroes or gods. |
Mnemonic Devices | Are techniques a person can use to help them remember something. |
Tone | A writer's or speaker's attitude toward a subject. |
Diction | A writer's or speaker's choice of words. |
Denotation | The exact, literal meaning of a word. |
Connotation | The suggested or implied meaning or emotion associates with a word beyond its literal meaning. |
Allegory | A story in which the characters, objects, or actions have a meaning beyond the surface of the story. |
