Pharmacologic Action Reduces fever by reestablishing hemostasis in the hypothalamic heat-regulating center.
indications for administration Reduction of fever in pediatric patients to prevent febrile seizures

Medication interactions Phenothiazine’s may produce hypothermia Phenobarbital may increase hepatic toxicity
adult and pediatric doses Adult: none Pediatric: 10-15mg/Kg PO with a max 24-hour dose of 50mg/kg
Special Notes Be aware that multiple OTC and scheduled (pain meds) medications contain acetaminophen, use caution to avoid accidental OD of the patient. An OD greater than 4gm is hepatotoxic
