Stage Managing Vocab

TermDefinition
Call Board place where all schedules, sign-in sheets and notices are posted for cast and crew. Each company member is responsible for reading this everyday
Call Time the time actors and/or crew are “called” to the rehearsal or performance.
Calling the show the process of cueing actors and technicians in a professional and consistent manner so that the show is the same every time.
Prompt Book the master script used for recording all stage business, blocking, light cues, sound cues, timings, etc. This becomes a permanent record of the production and usually stays with the company or school rather than the individual.
Stage Directions Center Stage, Stage Left, Stage Right, Upstage, Downstage, Backstage or Offstage, On-stage.
Rehearsal Reports Documents of what is happening during the show that is sent to the actors, directors, producers, tech crews, etc. once a day.
