Retributive Justice To give/get what one deserves, whether it be reward or punishment.
Distributive Justice To give/get what is deemed essential and what one needs, especially in terms of equal opportunities and fair treatment.
Retributivism Belief that moral and legal offenders deserve punishment.
Lex Talionis Law of Accountability
Pacifism View that war is morally wrong and should be avoided.
Just War For a just war the conflict must be only defensive in nature (no offensive attacks), there must be no territorial or other material gain (the spoils of war), and there must be no harm to civilians and civilian populations.
Chapter 15 Analysis A man is refusing to pay for food and services in a restaurant, and he acknowledges that he is struggling and did not have the money.
Anthropocentric Human centric perspective that grants moral status only to humans.
Zoo-centric Perspective that claims that all animals have moral status and rights.
Bio-centric Perspective that claims that all living things have moral status and rights.
Ontological Status Status relating to or based upon being or existence

Education The key to ethical knowledge and energy
Ethical Deliberation Requires one to absorb, assess, and apply priorities and principles that have been deemed worthy.
Key Concepts (7 V's) Vision, Values, Virtues, Veracity, Vitality, Vocation, Vim and Vigor
Vision Bespeaks world and life views
Values The priorities that define how we agree to treat others and wish to be treated as well.
Virtues The term in ethics that depicts those attributes and assets of our personal character and moral development.
Veracity Is about truth, transparency, and honesty.
Vitality Part and parcel of activity.
Vocation The term suggests that morality is like a full-time job.
Vim and Vigor The energy, courage, and initiative that are required both for ethical thought and moral action.
Ethical Source The foundation for one's moral values and principles.
Ethical Substance The meaning and expression of the morals being embraced and engaged.
Ethical Steps The process of critical thinking and analysis by which morals, facts, reasons, principles, and priorities become implemented toward resolution of an ethical situation.
