| unconditioned stimuli | stimuli that automatically triggers a response |
| unconditioned response | an unlearned, natural response tot he unconditioned stimuli |
| conditioned stimuli | after association with the unconditioned stimuli, elicits a certain response |
| conditioned response | the learned response to previously neutral response |
| acquisition | initial stage of classical conditioning in which the association between the neutral stimuli and unconditioned stimuli takes place |
| generalization | tendency to respond to similar stimuli in the same way |
| discimination | the learned ability to distinguish between the controled stimulus and other stimuli |
| spontaneous recovery | the reappearing of the controlled response to the controlled stimulus |
| extinction | the fading of the controlled response to the controlled stimulus |
