EOG Prep Vocabulary
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Synonym | A word that has the SAME meaning as another word. |
| Antonym | A word that has the OPPOSITE meaning to another word. |
| Bold | A text feature that makes letters and words appear darker and thicker than other words and letters. This means the word is important. |
| Paragraph | A section of writing, about one topic. Sentences are grouped together because they support the same idea. |
| Stanza | A group of lines in a poem, like a paragraph. |
| Compare | How things are the same or alike. |
| Contrast | How things are different. |
| Point of View (POV) | The perspective a story is told from. Pronouns can help you figure this out: 1st Person - I, me, my, mine, we, us, our, ours 2nd Person - You, your, yours 3rd Person - She, her, hers, he, him, his, they, them, theirs, it, it's |
| Mood | The way a story makes you feel. |
| Purpose to Persuade | The author's goal is to persuade readers. They want to convince readers to believe or do something. |
