Author's Claim The author's opinion. The claim will be supported with facts.
perspective feelings/opinions. In nonfiction text, the author may write about his/her opinion on a topic.
analyze think deeply about
Author's Purpose (3) 1. Persuade 2. Inform 3. Entertain
Persuade If the Author's Purpose is to persuade, the author shares his/her perspective and uses words to make the reader feel the same way.
Inform If the Author's Purpose is to inform, the author writes facts about a topic. The reader learns information.
Entertain If the Author's Purpose is to entertain, the author writes a story or a poem. Entertain is found in Literary Text.
