| Persuade | If the Author's Purpose is to persuade, the author shares his/her perspective and uses words to make the reader feel the same way. |
| Inform | If the Author's Purpose is to inform, the author writes facts about a topic. The reader learns information. |
| Entertain | If the Author's Purpose is to entertain, the author writes a story or a poem. Entertain is found in Literary Text. |
