Aggression - key terms
| Term | Definition |

| Informational social influence | Changing behaviour to do the right thing in a situation or when you are uncertain |
| Normative social influence | Changing behaviour to fit in with the group or to not stand out |
| Hostile aggression | Reactive, emotional and angry response to a threat |
| Instrumental aggression | Aggression that serves a purpose to accomplish an aim. |
| Implicit bias | Unconscious and non-deliberate attribution of specific qualities to a member of a social group |
| Positive reinforcement | Adding something to the situation to repeat the behaviour |
| Negative reinforcement | Removing something from the situation to repeat the behaviour |
| Adaptive advantage | Any characteristic of an organism that increases it’s chances of survival |
| Correlation | Describes the direction and strength of a relationship between variables. |
| Positive correlation | as one variable changes so does the other. |
| Negative correlation | as one variable changes, the other goes in the opposite direction |
| First-degree relative | A blood relative whom you share at least 50% genetic information with |
