Gender - key terms
| Term | Definition |

| Masculinity | Psychological characteristics of a male |
| Femininity | Psychological characteristics of a female |
| Typical gender | Gender that reflects a person's sex |
| Atypical gender | Gender that does NOT reflect a person's sex |
| Binary | A forced choice to one or another position e.g. feminine or masculine |
| Gender fluid | Taking the view that gender is not fixed throughout life but can change |
| Non-binary | View that there are multiple possible outcomes rather than fixed two |
| Gender dysphoria | A condition where a person feels that their biological sex does not match to their gender. This often pursues treatment to reassign gender with sex (surgery) |
| Transgender | Moving from one gender to another |
| Androgyny | Gender that has characteristics associated with being both masculine and feminine. |
| Sex | Your biological structure that decides whether you have male or female reproductive organs and hormones |
| Gender | A social construct of whether you are male or female |
