| brachial plexus block | type of regional anesthesia produced by injection of a local anesthetic into the brachial plexus |
| Conduction block | type of regional anesthesia produced by injection of a local anesthetic into or near the nerve trunk |
| epidural block | type of regional anesthesia produced by injection of a local anesthetic into the space surrounding the dura of the spinal cord |
| general anesthesia | Providing a pain free state to the entire body |
| induction drug | drug given at the beginning of an anesthesia process that results in a general anesthesia state |
| local anesthesia | Provision of pain-free state in a specific area |
| local infiltration anesthesia | anesthesia produced by injecting a local anesthetic drug into tissues |
| neuroleptanalgesia | A state of general quietness achieved through a combination of analgesic and neuroleptic drugs |
| patency | being open or exposed |
| preanesthetic drug | a drug given before the administration of anesthesia |
| regional anesthesia | anesthesia produced by injecting a local anesthetic around nerves to limit the pain signal sent to the brain |
| spinal anesthesia | A type of regional anesthesia produced by injection of a local anesthetic into the epidural space at the level of sacrococcygeal notch |
| transsacral block | Type of regional anesthesia produced by injection of a local anesthetic into the epidural space at the level of the sacrococcygeal notch |
