RLA STAAR vocabulary Expository

| Supporting Details | details that support or back up the main idea |
| Summary | the retelling of the main ideas in a text |
| Draw Conclusions | to come to an understanding or tell from clues presented in text |
| Infer | to conclude from evidence presented in the text and what you already know about the text |
| Textual Evidence | clues presented throughout a text to answer questions |
| Facts | a detail that can be proven to be correct or incorrect |
| Opinions | one person or group's idea or feeling |
| Verify | to check for correctness |
| Support | to back up |
| Text Organizational Patterns | the various ways authors organize expository text (cause/effect, compare/contrast, sequential order, classify, or problem/solution) |
