grain the direction of fibers in a sheet of paper, determining how it folds and warps
case binding using a hard board cover as a case which wraps around the block of pages (Also known as text block) to protect the book
zine typically DIY small circulation works which have historically been associated with grassroots movements and activism
coptic binding the binding of the first “true” codices; sewn board binding
parchment writing material made from specially prepared untanned skins of animals
book cloth prepared cloth that has been backed so adhesive will not leak through
foredge the edge of the book opposite the spine, where pages are visible
