light visible light is a type of electromagnetic energy that can travel as a wave or particle through solids, liquids, gases, or space without a medium
reflection the bouncing of a wave off a material
refraction changing the path of a wave as it moves between materials (or media) of different densities
absorption the "taking in" or interception of a wave and its energy
medium material through which a wave may be traveling (usually a solid, liquid, or gas)
sound an energy that travels by mechanical waves and produced by a vibrating object
pitch the high or low quality of sound; different notes are produced by this
frequency the rate of vibrations of an object
