| reflection | the bouncing of a wave off a material |
| refraction | changing the path of a wave as it moves between materials (or media) of different densities |
| absorption | the "taking in" or interception of a wave and its energy |
| medium | material through which a wave may be traveling (usually a solid, liquid, or gas) |
| sound | an energy that travels by mechanical waves and produced by a vibrating object |
| pitch | the high or low quality of sound; different notes are produced by this |
| frequency | the rate of vibrations of an object |
