TermDefinition
Corticosteroids Hormones secreted by the adrenal cortex of the adrenal gland as regulated by the pituitary gland.
Mineralocorticoids (Aldosterone), secreted by the adrenal cortex to act on the kidneys to maintain fluid and electrolyte balance.
Glucocorticoids (Cortisone, hydrocortisone, prednisone) regulate carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism.
Cortisol The major glucocorticoid of the adrenal cortex.
