QuestionAnswer
What are forces? force = push or a pull that can act on objects
What are 3 thing for WORK to happen? Distance, Movement, Effort
*What is Contact gravitational field? A Contact gravitational field is a force that can that move a object from a touch or a contact when a force is getting applied on them.
What is non Contact gravitational field? A non Contact gravitational field is a force that can that move a object without getting any touches or a contacts when a force is getting applied on them
Force of gravity = ? Force of gravity = (mass of object) x (the strength of Earth’s gravitational field)
What are contact forces? Contact forces must touch the object that they push or pull
What are non contact forces? Action-at-a-distance forces can push or pull an object without touching it
What is Mass? Mass is basically the amount of matter in an object/product
What is work? A amount of effort spent when you use a force that causes an object to move a distance
How can work be Calculated? (Work in joules) = (Force in newtons) × (distance in metres) And it stand for W = Fd
What is a First-Class lever? - A first-class-lever has the fulcrum in between a input and output force
What is a Second-Class lever? - A second-class-lever is the input and output force the same
What is a Third-Class lever? - A third-class-lever is a input force between a fulcrum and output force, and the input and output force can be in same direction
What are the 3 class levers First-Class lever, Second-Class lever, Third-Class lever
What are some parts of a lever? Fulcrum, load, (outpost force), effort I+(input force)
What are some simple machines? Wedge, Ramp, Pulley, Screw, Lever
What is a lever? Lever's are basically a rigid bar that usually supported at one point
What is a Pulley? A pulley consists of a grooved wheel with a rope or cable looped around it.
What is a Wheel and Axis? The wheel and axle uses a shaft or axle that is attached to a bigger disk, called the wheel.
What is a Inclined Plane? A surface that's sloped and it's an object that can move and it's also called a inclined plane
What is a Screw? A screw is basically an inclined plane wrapped around a rod and this is called a continuous inclined plane, starting at the tip, and it's called the “thread.”
What is a Wedge? A wedge is an inclined plane that travels through the object or material.
What is Distance? Distance is the magnitude or the size of a displacement in between two places/positions
What is the formula for Work? The formula for work is = Force x Distance
What is the formula for Mechanical Advantage? The formula for Mechanical Advantage is F (out)/ F (in) Output Force/ Input Force
What is the formula for Ideal Mechanical Advantage? The formula for Ideal Mechanical Advantage is D (in) / D (out) Input Distance/ Output distance
The difference between ideal mechanical advantage and mechanical advantage? Ideal is input first then output and its also measured in distance. Mechanical Advantage is output first then input and it's measured in force.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
