Environmental issues in Africa SS7G2

climate The general weather conditions of an area over an extended period of time.
poverty Being really poor.
desertification When an area of land that didn't use to be desert, dries up and turns into desert.
desert An area of land that's dry and has little to no rainfall.
sahel An area in Africa that's located between the Sahara Desert and the Savanna. The Sahel is also semi-arid.
deforestation Removing large amounts of trees/ clearing forests.
slash-and-burn agriculture Cutting and burning plants in fields to clear the area for farming.
transportation Using something (car, plane, boat, etc.) to move someone or something.
High Aswan Dam A dam placed in the Nile River in Egypt.
irrigation Watering crops without the use of rainwater.
overpopulation To many people living in one area.
poor sanitation Unclean or ineffective methods of cleaning something.
natural phenomena Events that happen in nature without human interference.
diseases A condition that negatively affects the health of organisms.
industrial waste Unwanted things or substances that are produced by manufacturing and producing goods.
