How do geologists classify rocks? Geologists classify rocks by Grain size, Grain shape, Grain pattern, No visible grain, Mineral Composition.
Texture is how a rock looks and feels, give 2 examples of how a rock looks. A rock looks Smooth, glassy.
Texture is how a rock looks and feels, give 2 examples of how a rock Feels. A rock can feel rough, and or Chalky.
Grain Size: Explain the difference of “coarse grained” Coarse Grained rocks are rocks like Diorite.
Grain Size: Explain the difference of “fine grained” rocks. Fine grained rocks are rocks like Slate.
How are rocks formed that have “no visible grain”? Rocks that have no visible grain are like the rock Flint.
Origin refers to where a rock was formed. List the 3 major rock groups that group rocks by their origin. Igneous rock, sedimentary rock, and Metamorphic rock.
Which rock group forms rocks using heat and pressure? Metamorphic rock.
