| Transcontinental | Something that crosses across a whole continent. |
| Charter | a document, issued by a country or company, defining where an expedition should explore, how much they are paid and what they have the right to do on their journey. |
| Natural Resources | materials or substances such as minerals, forests, water, and fertile land that occur in nature and can be used for economic gain. |
| Frontier | the extreme limit of settled land beyond which lies wilderness |
| Persecution | hostility and ill-treatment, especially on the basis of ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation or political beliefs. |
| Commerce | the activity of buying and selling, especially on a large scale. |
| Cartography | the science or practice of drawing maps. |
| Claim | A demand or request for a piece of land by someone in order to mine it. |
| Merchants | a person or company involved in wholesale trade, especially one dealing with foreign countries or supplying merchandise to a particular trade. |
