Location Vocabulary

Vocabulary that is used when you are locating places on Earth

TermDefinition
Compass Rose A symbol that shows the cardinal directions on a map.
Cardinal directions North, South, East, and West
Lines of Latitude Imaginary lines that run east-west around the Earth
Lines of Longitude Imaginary lies that run north-south around the Earth
Equator The line of latitude that circles the middle of the Earth
Prime meridian The main line of longitude that circles the Earth
