What is encephalitis? An inflammation of the brain.
What is a host? A living animal or plant on or in which a parasite or virus lives or replicates
What is Jamestown Canyon Virus Disease? An emerging mosquito-borne viral disease closely related to La Crosse encephalitis
What is La Crosse Encephalitis? A mosquito-borne disease that may cause encephalitis and primarily affects children.
What is mechanical transmission? The process by which an insect transports disease on its feet, hair, or other body surfaces.
What is a pathogen? A bacteria, virus, or other microorganism that can cause disease.
What is a vector? An organism that transmits a pathogen.
What is West Nile Virus? A mosquito-borne virus that affects humans, horses, and birds.
