What is the food source for both male and female mosquitoes and why is it important? Nectar from plants; flight and nutrition.

What is the mosquito group made up of daytime feeders? Aedes
Which species of mosquito is an aggressive summer species that produces a single brood per season and obtains its oxygen through the roots of plants? Coquillettidia perturbans.
What are the stages of development between molts called? Instars
What is the developmental stage between larva and adult? Pupa
What is the name for a juvenile insect once it hatches until it reaches the stage before adulthood? Larva
What species of mosquito lays it eggs singly on moist soil just above the water line where they will be flooded after a rainfall? Aedes.
How long after a bloodmeal do female mosquitoes lay eggs? 3-4 days
What are some examples of mosquito hosts? Humans; mammals such as cattle, horses, and deer; birds; some amphibians and worms.
What is the minimum temperature for mosquitoes to become active and seek out a bloodmeal? 50 degrees F
What is the ideal minimum humidity level of feeding? 70%
What is the primary blood-feeding activity period for most mosquitoes? Between sunset and midnight.
