Narrative and Story Mountain Review

QuestionAnswer
What is the lead? The beginning sentences of a story that grabs the readers attention to make them excited to read the story.
What is the exposition? The beginning of the story which includes background information, introduces the characters, and may introduce the conflict of the story.
What are the rising actions? The events that help move the story along and builds up the problem of the story.
What is the climax? The turning point of the story and where the conflict must be faced.
What are the falling actions? Then events that help solve the problem in the story.
What is the resolution? The end of the story where the problem is resolved.
What is dialogue? Characters talking to one another in the story. There are always quotations marks and a speaker tag.
What do vivid verbs do to a story? They spice up the action words in a story.
What is the setting of a story? The where and when the story takes place.
What is the protagonist in a story? The good guy/girl.
What is the antagonist in a story? The gad guy/girl. The villain.
What is the conflict of a story? The problem or struggle between people, things, or ideas.
What is Character VS Character conflict? A problem between two characters.
What is Character VS Nature conflict? A problem between a character and a force of nature, like weather.
What is a Character VS Society conflict? A problem between a character and laws or beliefs of a group.
What is a Character VS Self conflict? A problem between a character and their own thoughts and decisions.
What is foreshadowing? A hint in the story of what is to come.
