What is Urbanization? Mass movement of people to a city
What is Mercantilism? Shared wealth and a fixed amount of wealth
What is specialization? Particularly good in a specific way and the spreading your service to make wealth
What is sociallism? Property is shared and the property is controlled by the government/state
What is communism? government in control of wealth distribution and take wealth from the rich
Who are the Bourgeoisie? middle class who owns most of the society's wealth and or population
Who are the Proletariat? Lowest/working class people
Describe the definition of union Workers who joined together to fight for a common purpose or cause
What are the factors of production that allowed industrialization to start in Great Britain? Land (natural resources), Labor (work force), and capital (skills +money)
How did working and living conditions change during the first phase of industrialization? Name the reforms that took place. People became sick, the crime rate was high, and it was crowded and highly polluted. Reforms: Mandatory public education, child labor laws, and 8 hour work days
Why was Great Britain able to have enough capital and natural resources to start industrialization? They were surrounded by water so they had steam (resources), manpower, and they were in a good location.
What is the difference between the first and the second phases of industrialization? 1st phase: Great Britain 2nd phase: United states and Germany (biggest industrialization)
Who is Karl Marx? economic thinker who wrote about a radical form of government known as communism. He believed in the : "communist manifesto". He wanted equality for the poor and radical social change for everyone.
Who is Adam Smith? "Wealth of the nation" create wealth through specialization and the lassiez - fairre system and public works
How did the society change? There was a large working class that created jobs leading to the wealth of the nation. It also has increased the production of the materials.
How did the agricultural revolution contribute to the industrial revolution? Humans industrialized farming to produce greater crop yields with less workers working.
How did industrialization affect the way we think about economics? They had seen more goods made in less time. There was also a increase in income.
Compare mercantilism and capitalism Mercantilism - Heavy government power and fixed wealth Capitalism - no government power and unfixed amount of wealth
Compare socialism,communism, and capitalism Communism - is a more political and a stricter version of socialism. Capitalism- isn't strict at all and the opposite of communism
what is capitalism? Laissez- fairre system, no government control, and no fixed wealth
