Electric Current
| Term | Definition |

| electric current | the rate at which electric charges pass a given point. |
| direct current | the type of current generated by batteries and moves in one direction. |
| alternating current | the type of current that comes from the outlets in your home and the direction of the current moves in one direction and in reverse. |
| amperes | the unit used to express the amount of charge moving each second. |
| resistance | the opposition to the flow of electric charge. |
| voltage | the amount of work required to move each unit of charge between two points. |
| series circuit | a circuit in which the parts are joined one after another such that the current in each part is the same. |
| parallel circuit | a circuit in which the parts are joined in branches such that the voltage in each part is the same. |
