| DROPOUT | Someone who leaves school without receiving a diploma |
| PERSONAL GRADUATION PLAN | A document that you and your high school counselor use to set goals for the things you want to accomplish while you are in school. It serves as a map that you can follow and helps you achieve your educational, career, and lifestyle goals |
| ENDORSEMENT AREA | An area of specialized study or related courses that are grouped together by interest or skill set. There are FIVE endorsement areas: Business and Industry, STEM, Public Service, Arts and Humanities, and Multidisciplinary Studies |
| ELECTIVES | Classes you choose because you are interested in the subject |
| CTSOs | Career and Technical Student Organizations are groups of students who are enrolled in a career and technical education program that engage in career and technical activities as part of the curriculum (ex: FFA, FCCLA, HOSA, etc.) |
| FOUNDATION HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM | identifies the requirements that all Texas public school students need to satisfy to earn a high school diploma |
| APPRENTICESHIP | Type of formal occupation program that combines on-the-job training with related instruction |
| ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE | A two-year undergraduate college degree that aims to give students the basic technical and academic knowledge and transferable skills they need to earn employment or continue their education |
| BACHELOR'S DEGREE | A four-year undergraduate college degree that prepares students to be skillful and knowledgeable about a certain subject |
| MASTER'S DEGREE | An academic degree awarded to individuals who have successfully undergone student demonstrating a high level of expertise in a specific field of study or area of professional practice |
| DOCTORATE DEGREE | The most advanced degree anyone can earn that requires a significant level of research; it symbolizes that you have mastered a specific areas of study, or field of profession (medicine, law, education, etc.) |
| TRADE CERTIFICATE | A career-specific certificate earned in no more than two years by taking courses and getting credit from hands-on work |
| COMMUNITY OR JUNIOR COLLEGE | IHE that provides workforce education, college transfer academic programs, and Associate's degrees |
| COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY | IHEs that confer undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as provide facilities for teaching and research; colleges are typically smaller and more focused on undergraduate studies whereas universities are often larger and more devoted to research |
| GPA | Grade Point Average |
| HIGHER EDUCATION | Education beyond high school, especially at a college or university |
| TRANSCRIPT | Proof of education; a certified record of a student throughout a course of study; also known as an academic record |
| POSTSECONDARY | Reference to any education or opportunities beyond high school |
| MILITARY | The armed forces of a country |
| TRADE SCHOOL | A postsecondary educational institution designed to train students for a specific job in a skilled trade career |
| WORKFORCE | People engaged in or available for work |
