John Calvin French pastor, theologian, and reformer in the Geneva during the Protestant Reformation. Known for his influential institutes of the Christian religion. 16th century
Brahmins Varna also known as caste in the Hindu society. Known for being the priestly class which held religious teachers as well as priests.
Canonization In the Roman Catholic Church it is the official admission of a dead person into sainthood
Cathedral The principal church of a diocese, with which the bishop is officially associated (Ex. St Paul's Cathedral)
Miguel de Cervantes Known as one of the most important and celebrated figures in Spanish literature. Author of Don Quixote (1605, 1615) which is a widely read literary classic novel.
Confucianism A system of philosophical and ethical teachings founded by Confucius and developed by Mencius. Created in China in the 6th-5th century bce.
Nicolaus Copernicus A mathematician and astronomer that studied astronomy and and proposed that the sun was stationary in the center of universe and Earth revolved around the sun
Dualism The theory that the mental and physical or mind and body or mind and brain are, in some sense, radically different and are separate.
Epicureanism Ancient school of philosophy founded by Epicurus in Athens. Rejected determinism and advocated hedonism (pleasure is the highest good). Mental pleasure was regarded more highly than physical pleasure such as no anxiety, and mental pain
Cicero Roman statesman, scholar, lawyer, and philosopher. Famous for his orations on politics and society, as well as serving as a high-ranking consul. The ideal government is "formed by an equal balancing and blending."
