| ADRENERGIC DRUGS | Drugs that stimulate the sympathetic nervous system. Mimic the effects of neurotransmitters norepinehprine and epinephrine. |
| Repiratory Indications | Stimulation of Beta 2 receptors on bronchial, uterine, and vascular smooth muschles. Treat asthma and bronchitis. EX: epinephrine, saleterol. |
| Topical Nasal Decongestant Indications | Cause constriction of dilated arterioles and reduction of nasal blood flow, decreasing congestion. Stimulation of Alpha-1 receptors. EX: Epinephrine |
| Opthalmic Indications | Stimulation of Alpha receptors. Relieve conjunctival congestion by arteriolar vasoconstriction. Reduce intraocular pressure and dilate pupils. |
| Cardiovascular Indications | Have variety of effects on alpha and beta receptors. EX: dopamine, epinephrine |
| Contraindications | Known drug allergies, hypertension. |
| Adverse Effects | CNS: Headache, restlessness, excitement, insomnia, euphoria. Cardiovascular: chest pain, vasoconstriction, hypertension, tachycardia, palpitations, dysrhythmias. Other: anorexia, loss of appetite, dry mouth. |

| Lab Test Considerations | Alpha Drugs cause increase of levels of edongenous corticotropn, corticosteroids, ang glucose. These lab results hsould be interpreted with caution. |
