| Term | Definition |

| Energy | ability to do work or cause change |
| Potential Energy | energy that is not causing any changes now but could cause changes in the future |
| Kinetic Energy | energy due to motion |
| Vibration | the back and forth motion of an object |
| Transparent | describes materials that let nearly all light pass through them |
| Translucent | describes materials that let some light pass through, but not all |
| Opaque | describes materials that do not let any light pass through them |
| Reflection | light bouncing off an object |
| Refraction | bending of light |
| Transform | to change from one form into another |
| Electric Circuit | a circular path through which electricity can flow |
| Conductor | a material through which an electric charge can move easily |
| Resistor | a material through which an electric charge cannot move easily |
| Insulator | a strong resistor that can stop most electric currents |
| Mechanical Energy | The energy in an object due to its position or motion |
| Electrical Energy | The form of energy that consists of a flow of electric charges through a conductor |
| Light Energy | The energy that travels in waves or straight lines that can be seen |
| Thermal Energy | The energy of moving particles that produces heat |
| Sound Energy | The energy that can be heard, caused by vibrations |
