Energy Tranfer

Energy The ability to cause change or do work.
Law of Conservation of Energy States that energy can not be created or destroyed, it only changes form.
Energy Transfomation Process of energy changing from one form to another.
Radiation The transfer of heat through an empty space. ex. Sunlight to Earth
Conduction Heat transferred by direct particles of matter. ex. Soup to pot.
Convection Heat transfer by the mass movement of a heated liquid. ex. heating of soup, the Earth’s mantle
Conductor A material that conducts heat well.
Insulator A material that does not conduct heat well.
Convection Current The flow that transfers heat within a fluid.
