Unit 2 Lesson 1 Hemispheres

TermDefinition
Geography The study of Human and Non-human features of the earth.
Cardinal Direction North, South, East, & West
Intermediate Directions Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, & Southwest
Latitude The position north or south of the equator. (lines that go this way ↔)
Longitude The position East or west of the equator . (lines that go ↕)
Scale The area or space on the map or globe corresponds to in the real world.
Distortion A loss of accuracy in the size or position of objects on a map.
Projection A different way to show a map on a flat surface.
Equinox A point at which, everywhere on Earth, days and nights are nearly equal in length.
Solstice A point at which days are longest in one hemisphere and shortest in the other.
