QuestionAnswer
Blank Verse Non-rhyming poetry, usually written in iambic pentameter
Cacophony Language which seems harsh, rough, and unmusical
Carpe Diem Common theme that emphasizes to seize the day
Catastrophe Scene in a tragedy that includes death/destruction
Characterization Author conveying a character's personality, values, etc.
Cliche An overused idea/expression
Climax The point in the story when the outcome of the conflict becomes clear
Comedy A literary work which is amusing/ends happily
Conflict A struggle between forces, can be internal
Connotation Associations/implications that go beyond the literal meaning of a word
Consonance Repetition of consonant sounds with different vowel sounds in words near each other
Couplet 2 consecutive lines of poetry with the same end rhyme and similar length
Denotation The literal definition of a word apart from impressions/feelings it creates
