Absorb | To take in |
Lens | a clear piece of curved glass or plastic that bends passing light to focus or spread the light rays |
Light | a form of energy that travels in waves and can move through empty space where there is no air |
Opaque | materials that block all light from passing through. You cannot see through opaque matter. (ex. brick, rock, mirror) |
Reflection | the bouncing back of light rays from a surface |
Refraction | the bending of light rays as they move from one material into another material |
Transmit/Transmission | when light passes through objects/matter |
Transparent | materials that light can pass through. (ex. Air, water, glass, empty vacuum) |
Translucent | materials that some light passes through. You can see through translucent matter, but things may look cloudy. (ex. sheer fabric, tracing paper) |
